Woody

Catherine Werdel's dresser woody consists of two parts. The upper one can be moved in both directions. That develops a new additional surface, which can be used as file or as seat opportunity. Via Design Don't Panic.

Aniston’s Latest Bachelorette Pad

How would you like to wake up and have your coffee on this terrace every morning?

Well, Jennifer Aniston and her beau of choice (Gerard Butler, Bradley Cooper, etc) will be doing just that!

Word on the street is that Aniston purchased not one, but two condos in NYC’s West Village and is planning on combining them into one duplex (and obtaining a whopping 2,700 square feet of space).

Jenn- we beg of you, please hire the MG’s to help with the decorating of your new place.  I know Perez calls you Maniston, but the interior design of this place is way too masculine for you.  I don’t know you personally, but this look just does not seem to suit the stylish girl who made “The Rachel” cut a household name. Who are we kidding? We know you will call Courtney and Coco to come over and you all will get to decorating- see you on an upcoming Architectural Digest cover.

xoxo

The Glass House

Ever seen this movie?  Yes, it’s kind of creepy but the house is truly stunning.  When I came across this home in Chicago in a recent issue of Architectural Digest that very much resembled “The Glass House,” I couldn’t help but be blown away by it’s breathtaking beauty.  A waterfront plot of land in Chicago is the most coveted real estate in the area, so it would be a virtual crime to not take full advantage of the lake views.

Architecture firm Peter Gluck and Partners created this modernist masterpiece, dubbed “The Cascade House,” as it is literally tiers of glass boxes that cascade towards the water.  Although the family originally commissioned the architect to design a townhouse in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, they soon realized they would need more space to accomodate their growing family.  Even though the home is family friendly, its sophistication and elegance is undeniable. With a pool, half basketball court and expansive outdoor space, the Cascade House is a kid’s paradise.  While the North Shore is full of glorious, historic estates, this home bucks tradition yet truly honors the most splendid of all design elements: Lake Michigan.

Pod?etrtek Sports Hall

A dark exterior and red under-belly slice stands in stark contrast to the bright open interior of Pod?etrtek's new sports facility designed by Enota.  Massive, flowered cutouts on the facade provide a vast amount of daylighting for sporting events and also create a happy exterior decoration at night.

Museo Soumaya by FREE Fernando Romero

“Museo Soumaya” was conceived as a sculptural building that is unique and contemporary, yet serves to house a collection of international paintings, sculptures, and decorative objects dating from the fourteenth century to the present. From the outside, the building is an amorphous shape that inspires different perceptions in each visitor, while on the inside the museums varied topology reflects the diversity of the collection. The shell of the building is constructed with steel columns of different diameters, each with its own geometry and shape, offering the visitor non-linear circulation. There are 16,000 square meters of exhibition space divided among six floors, as well as an auditorium, a café, offices, a gift shop, a multi-use lobby, and storage space. The top floor is the largest space; its roof is suspended from a cantilever that allows natural lighting. The building s façade is made from hexagonal aluminum modules facilitating its preservation and durability.

One Fish, Two Fish…

Fish scales are on my mind recently and i think it’s a combination of the weather and the fact that my friend told me she has to wear a mermaid style bridesmaid dress in an upcoming wedding.  Let’s be honest, not many people can pull this look off…J Lo might be able to but it’s just cruel to put your average figured bridesmaids in it.

Luckily, in design, you get to dress up your walls and floors and tabletops and it doesn’t matter what your figure looks like.  Here are some fish scale items for your home that will definitely make a splash.

Herend china

Coco fish scale lamps from H&H collection

Salt & Pepper shakers from That’s So Perfect

Lucite tray also from That’s So Perfect

LuLu Dk  Tulah bedding from Matouk

Decorative Fish Tanks – cool fish aquarium by Vanessa Mitrani

vanessa-mitrani-decorative-fish-tanks-1.jpg Art and nature come together in this cool fish aquarium designed by glass-artist extraordinaire Vanessa Mitrani. These unusual decorative fish tanks are inspired by modern striking skyscraper architecture, featuring an ultra-modern long and lean vessel with a grid of “windows” running from top to bottom. Half-way down the tank, organic bubbles balloon this way and that, putting a natural spin on this contemporary piece. Available in three sizes (25, 35 and 45cm) these cool aquariums require no special care, just a soft sponge and water, and provide an environment in which bettas and killifish can thrive. But the look of this low-maintenance aquarium is totally high-end. Check out these decorative fish tanks at Vanessa Mitrani.
