a beautiful home on ponza, italy

Today we make another trip to Italy! This stunning house is located on the island of Ponza, in the Lazio region in Italy. I’m loving the ethnic atmosphere in the house.

Some geographical background information: Ponza (Italian: Isola Di Ponza) is the largest of the Italian Pontine Islands archipelago, located 33 km south of Cape Circeo in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It also the name of the commune of the island, a part of the province of Latina in the Lazio region.

Today I’m loving … these colourful cushions from Australian label Harvest Textiles. I especially like their cloud shaped cushion which will bring a smile to your face even on rainy days! All items are handmade with love and care in Melbourne, Australia.

Harvest Textiles is a team of three women who share a passion for quality handmade textiles, the joy of learning, community and sustainability. They make lovely hand screen-printed clothing, homewares, yardage handmade costumes and handmade DIY contemporary toy kits. As a brand, they try to use organic, recycled or locally produced fabrics where possible to reduce impact on the environment. Hurray for Harvest Textiles!

It’s going to be a very warm weekend here in The Netherlands. Time to make ice cold homemade lemonade! I usually make mine with limes and fresh mint but there are thousands of different recipes. You can find some recipes here. Have a great weekend!

I am still in the mood for sunny images as it is another beautiful day here in The Netherlands. Happy (Pentecost) weekend to you all!

This stunning house is located on Filicudi, one of eight islands that make up the Aeolian archipelago (Italy). Many of the beautiful summer houses that I showed here on the style files are on this small island. Are all the houses (& views) that gorgeous over there? Time for a trip I guess!

Isn’t this the best place to enjoy a cocktail at sunset? What a view!

a swedish home

This Swedish home was featured in a last year’s edition of Swedish magazine Skona Hem. Owner Carola has the art to collect this without making the place feel to cluttered. On a wall in the living room are paintings of loved ones. This unique collection gives a lot of character to the room.

The living room is covered with an open bookcase which stretches up to the ceiling. The paintings are made by Carola’s uncle, Peo Rosen.

The bedroom is small and has now windows but a cozy atmosphere is created by using white and natural colours.

In the long, narrow hallway (top right & below right) different collections of frames, hats and glasses can be found.

a renovated fisherman’s cottage

On Remodalista I can accross this beautiful fisherman’s cottage on Shelter Island, USA. The cottage, which was built in 1904, has been renovated by NY-based architects Rhea White and Steve Schappacher of Schappacher White.

The owners, who bought the house as a weekend retreat, were acutally looking for something more modern but when they saw this cottage they couldn’t resist making an offer.

Throughout the interiors, whites, off whites, and sand colors have been used. Black and natural wood was used as contrasts.

A gorgeous rocking chair.

A mix of modern pieces, antiques, and found objects has been used to decorate the rooms.

crocheted vintage bedspreads for sale

Many of you liked the vintage crocheted bedspread in the image above (which is our bedroom). I was able to get my hands on a limited supply of vintage crochted bedspreads (in various sizes and patterns) which I am selling on Eby. You can see all available items here. The silver star shaped lamp (handmade in Egypt) is available from Le Souk (in two sizes).

winter time

We have been having lots of snow for the past weeks. I can’t remember that we had this much snow in one winter. Here are some winter wonderland photos that I have been shooting this winter. The blue/grey house in the middle in the top image is ours.
