Red Nest Modular Design Makes The Most of Tiny Apartments

The Red Nest is an interesting design that makes the most of small apartments. It's a modular design that offers plenty of storage space, a sleeping area and a working area, but we'll notice there's no kitchen area. The red coat of paint combined with a couple of strategically placed mirrors make the whole room seem a lot bigger than it actually is. The bookshelf is a mobile unit meant to hide the bed or the working area, according to your needs. The bathroom is also worth noticing since, as you can imagine, it doesn't offer that much space either. The Red Nest is definitely a great design for small spaces, and in case you're thinking about renting such an apartment then you know how you can decorate it to make the most of the available space. iVillage

A client of mine happens to be a sales director for iVillage (an NBC Universal Company) and they have recently launched their new Home & Garden Channel – totally worth checking out! It’s full of inspiration galleries, how to videos, house tours, gardening advice, blogs, and more!

The inspiration galleries are organized by section which makes it easy to find inspiration per room, such as: Nurseries, Window Treatments, Playrooms, Mudrooms, Dining Rooms, Wall Treatments, Backyards, Porches, Decks, Girls’ Bedrooms, etc.

A playroom featured in the inspiration gallery.

A modern bedroom featured in the Bedrooms section.

Another bedroom (the feature list sources as too, like this zebra print pillow from Target!).

Love the House Tours section too:

Which includes the home of Real Housewife of New York, Alex McCord.

And another home tour of Real Housewife of DC, Mary Schmidt Amons.

Check out iVillage for more!

The Strobilus Lamp Looks Like a Pine Cone But Offers Precious Light

This particular lamp qualifies for the strangest design I have ever seen for a lamp, not that it's necessarily an unpleasant display of skill and imagination. The Strobilus Lamp looks like a cone, but it's far more useful than you're regular pine cone. Designed by Jonathon Coles, the Strobilus lamp is supposed to be a highly recyclable and very efficient light source. In fact the Strobilus lamp is up to 95% recyclable, which is definitely a great feature for a lamp that you're surely going to replace in a couple of years. The Strobilus is made by paper pulp apparently, and in case it sounds familiar, that's because that kind of paper is usually found in packaging materials. Would you get a Strobilus for your living room or is it too weird for your taste? Via Paviom

Niagara Transparent Faucet Tells The Temperature With Color

The Niagara faucet in the pictures below is not just a simple faucet, but you guessed that already, didn't you? This particular design comes with a tint of magic, as the faucet will always tell you how hot the water running though the faucet is. The Niagara faucet uses economic LED lights that illuminate the transparent design according to the temperature of the water: red means hot, blue means cold while violet means warm; so I guess it's pretty clear what color you're going to favor. The Niagara transparent faucet is a great addition to your modern bathroom design that will certainly impress your guests every time they're going to turn on the water. Are you already thinking about getting it? Via Marti 1921

Bambu Hammock and Bambu Lounger Show Your Pets How Much You Love Them

Do you have a cat? What about a dog? Well in case you have your own pet that you love so much, then why not show it by buying them their own little sofa? The Bambu Hammock and the Bambu Lounger are perfect for your cat or dog and they'll certainly make an impression with your friends. Designed by Corey Drew from Pet Lounge Studios, the hammock and the lounger are made with solid bamboo and ensure that your favorite pet will have a comfortable sleeping area. Now that you've seen both models in action you'll have a tough time choosing between the Bambu Hammock and the Bambo Lounger. I for one would definitely go for the hammock, just to have a couple of laughs watching my dog prepare for sleep every day. Via Pet Lounge Studios

PlayStation Coffee Table Shows You’re Taking Gaming Too Seriously

While PlayStation, Xbox 360 or Wii consoles should definitely be found in one's home, at least one of them if not all three, creating custom furniture to reflect your gaming passion might be a little too much for some people. But if you happen to take gaming pretty seriously, and some people make a living based on gaming, then this PlayStation Coffee Table is definitely something you might want to consider when it comes to gaming-related furniture pieces. Unfortunately the PlayStation Coffee Table can't be found in stores, at least not yet, as it's a custom table built by an Australian student for his industrial technology class. So what do you say, gamers, would you actually buy the PlayStation Coffee Table? Via Overclockers

Unum Rain Shower and Hand Shower Immerses You in Water

The Unum Rain Shower and Hand Shower you're about to see is, without a doubt, the kind of shower I'd like to install in my bathroom. Taking longer showers is definitely a habit the Unum Rain Shower and Hand Shower will support. It has two different flows of water coming from the overhead shower (the Unum Rain Shower) and from the Hand Shower, which happens to be embedded in the main overhead one. They will immerse you in water with every shower you take even if that means using just a little bit more water than you usually do. However this 2-in-1 shower is just a concept for now and so we'll have to wait a while for it to show up in bathroom catalogs. Via Yanko Design

Timeless Chrome Faucets by Zucchetti Kos Faraway Bathroom Collection

wall-mounted-faucet-faraway-zucchetti.jpg

I was always fascinated by chrome finished modern bathroom fixtures and how pure, ellegant
and timeless they look. But after seeing the Faraway bath collection created by Zucchetti Kos, it was pure seduction for me... Ludovica+Roberto Palomba designers have brought the greatest renovation in the iconography of contemporary bathrooms. They had the vision:
"The bathroom as a place for sensory experience, a real or virtual journey to self-discovery".

Shown above is a wall mounted lavatory chrome faucet from the Faraway Collection by Zucchetti Kos.
